S is for Sunsets

I shot this photo on one of my last days in Arizona.  Maybe its the combination of heat, cactus, and palm trees but those desert sunsets can be quite breathtaking.  I traded palm trees for pine trees but couldn't be happier :)

P is for Prada

I have always been a handbag and jewelry obsessed kinda gal but recently I've entered the realm of shoe love.  I would save all my money and splurge on a bag but never on shoes.  However times have changed and recently I find myself getting really lost in the shoe department!  I am excited by all the textures and colors but always end up buying black.  When investing in designer goods I feel it is best to go classic but if there is a trendy piece you see being a "classic" in your wardrobe then go for it!

These Prada Patent Leather Platform Pumps (here) were a recent splurge of mine.  I was looking for a basic yet beautiful shoe and these were the winners.  The Prada Puffer Bow flat (here) is a favorite flat of mine.  I had first seem them on Tiffany's blog here and had to have them :) They are equal parts functional, easy to wear and trendy!

B is for Bay

Being back in the Pacific Northwest means being close to water again.  I took these photos a while back while visiting Bellingham, WA.  It was a beautiful day out and the beach was full of interesting things like crab claws, beach glass, and shells.  I enjoy exploring and am so excited to see many new places here in Portland.  With the crazy busy holiday season I don't have as much spare time as I'd like.  But on my days off I do try to get out and about!

F is for Flowers

I have no idea what kind of flowers or plants these are.  I was drawn in by the bright color and interesting texture.  I took this picture on my long road trip to Oregon a couple months ago outside a Thai restaurant (here) in Reedsport, OR on the coast.  I love taking pictures of flowers and plants and you will probably see a lot of posts in the near future :)

T is for Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have made some big decisions these past couple months (including a big move from AZ to OR!) but what I am most thankful for is my family and friends who have been so supportive!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful day with their loved ones and enjoying lots of good food!

C is for Candles

diptyque Feulle de Lavande & Capri Blue Volcano
These are two of my favorite candles.  Diptyque candles are a tad pricey but they smell amazing.  One of their standard candles can really fill an entire room.  Obesessed with all smells lavender, Feuille de Lavande is my favorite!  I had to do a hunt in Portland to find somewhere that sold them (I'm just a little impatient and didn't want to wait for shipping from online) and discovered Cielo Home in the Pearl District.  They have an amazing selection (albeit expensive...) of home decor and furniture.  Its a great place for ideas and inspiration!  The Capri Blue Volcano candles can be found at Anthropologie.  They are usually found in blue jars but on a recent visit I found the mercury glass.  Volcano is a fresh citrus scent that always puts me a good mood.

Does anyone remember the candle store Illuminations?  I was devastated when they closed their stores and wished I had done more hoarding shopping before they were gone forever...

N is for Nail Polish

L to R: Chanel Black Pearl, OPI You Don't Know Jacques, Deborah Lippmann Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Chanel Black Satin, Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings The Blues, OPI Lincoln Park At Midnight, OPI Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not, Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance
How many bottles of nail polish does someone need?!  Well I apparently need quite a few!  I have been accumulating a collection for a while now and try not to keep buying the same colors...however I seem to always gravitate to grays, purples, blues, and glitter.  Chanel, Deborah Lippmann, and OPI are my absolute favorites.  The combination of colors, polish consistency, and ease of applying are what make them my go-to brands.  Also I like the way the bottles look sitting on my bathroom counter...very important right ;)

J is for Jewelry

Jewelry is one of my favorite ways to accessorize.  I totally believe jewelry can be the outfit!   I am most often seen wearing a watch, earrings, bracelets, and a necklace.  The chunkier and funkier the better.  Large pieces, bright colors, and natural shapes are what I'm most drawn to.

I recently picked up this fun glass shadow box at West Elm and have been putting my favorite/go to pieces in it.  The boxes come in many shapes and sizes (can also be monogramed!) to choose from.  I have been trying to figure out a way to store and display my necklaces (currently they are all tangled in a drawer)...

O is for the Ocean

When I recently moved from Phoenix, AZ to Portland, OR I was determined to see the ocean on the road trip.  After two and half days of long driving (I truly know how big California is now!) I had arrived to the Oregon coast!  The weather was extremely foggy but it was still beautiful and vast.

I am so happy to be living near the Pacific Ocean and can't wait to get back out there soon.  It is one of my favorite places to be!

the view out my window today
Hello!

My name is Emily and this blog is about all things I'm enamored with including fashion, photography, food, places, etc.  I admit...I like a lot of things so I'm excited to start this blog and share them with other people.

A little bit about me:

-I'm left handed
-I don't eat meat (I just don't like the taste and texture of it)
-Dessert is my favorite meal
-Rainy days are a favorite of mine
